We Are Giants Fans: Open letter to the national sports media...:

Dear national sports media media, each of you writing your own overly intellectualized piece on Buster Posey,

I, a San Francisco Giants fan, understand that Scott Cousins did not break any rule.

I understand that there are decades of precedent of physical plays at the plate.

I am not a moron.

I do not want Cousins suspended, fined, or reprimanded in any way. I do not want him to die.

Most of you preface your arguments with statements to the effect of, “We feel bad for Buster” and, “what happened was horrible,” and that is exactly the point.

What happened was horrible and I have spent every moment since it happened wishing it had not and feeling sick.

Every time you click send on your jackass articles about how the play was “clean” or that “that’s baseball,” that sickening feeling in me is refreshed like someone pressing replay on a DVD of ‘Requiem for a Dream.’

You are not wrong. You are too loud.

Please shut your mouth.

Obviously, I haven’t been posting here much, and I’ve been ignoring that personal tumblr I made forever ago entirely.

So, I think I’ll log out of here and hang out over there for a while. The URL is thecolorofmagic.tumblr.com. There will still be baseball, but there will be some other stuff too. Doctor Who, Disney, Sharks, my own pictures, whatever…

I’ll try and log on here once and a while still, so feel free to leave stuff in my ask box or whatever, but I might not check it every day.

Anyhow, come find me if you wish, or I’ll find you. I don’t want to actually lose touch with anyone. You all are awesome.

With the continued love and support of my wife, Nita, I have exhausted all options with respect to controlling this awful disease. My illness has progressed beyond my doctors’ expectation of cure.

I have spent the past decade of my life promoting hospice care and educating people on its benefits. I am very comfortable taking this next step and experiencing the compassionate care that hospice provides.

I am comforted by the fact that I am surrounded by my family and friends. I thank you for the outpouring of concern, prayers and encouragement that you have shown me. I look forward to spending my final days in comfort and peace with Nita by my side.

Aside, Affeldt just walked a guy on 4 pitches. Bah.

I'm sick of hearing Giants fans be so damn cocky. They were by no means the best team in baseball last year, they just got EXTREMELY hot at the right time. And all their talk about winning it all again this year is just ridiculous. They're a good team. But not THAT good. If they even make the playoffs this year it's because the west is shittiest division in baseball.
