…there’s a play based on this…?


The Juan Marichal-John Roseboro fight from 1965 is getting the (off) Broadway treatment this month as the play “Juan and John” opens in Manhattan. Marichal himself, along with Roseboro’s family and the president of the Dominican Republic, will attend the play on Saturday.
The play is written by Roger Guenveur Smith, who will somehow act the parts of both Marichal and Roseboro.  No word on whether he’ll reproduce the scene shown above, with Marichal axing Roseboro on the head, igniting a 14-minute brawl between the Giants and Dodgers.
